Where to drink cheap

Copenhagen has plenty of options where you can get drunk for a few euros or even for free if you choose to combine an art experience with getting smashed. Usually, the cheaper the beer the more relaxed the setting but sadly also the more poor the music. Vinstue 90 is like stepping in another time zone and the artistic crowd that also hangs out at Byens Kro after exhibition openings. For a really local feel find the corner bodegas named after the street it is on. There are plenty. For drinks, cocktails and dancing the following inner city venues are excellent choises: Ruby is a cocktail bar that feels like an apartment. Zoo Bar, Delicatessen, Barbarellah and Gefärlich are laid-back spot where a drink comes with a good haircut.

If you like to combine drinking with live DJs or concerts, Copenhagen has plenty of options: Vega has great electro and live gigs – the lounge is a favorite spot. Huset in Magstræde is a great venue for indie and rock. Global Copenhagen is an alternative low rent spot. Den Grå Hal and Loppen in Christiania are truly alternative (punk). Blågårds Apotek is a pillar of the Copenhagen jazz scene.

Bobi Bar is Denmark’s oldest bodega with an artistic crowd that also hangs out. A beer is €2 and the only food served is hard boiled eggs that come with salt and pepper.

Simpelt V is a low rent bar with great Mojitos and indie music (smoking is allowed). The price of a beer is €3-4

Andy’s Bar is an institution and a favorite hang out for musicians where a beer can be bought for €2.

For drinks, the bar at Hotel Fox is an excellent choice; it has a summer terrace but a beer here will cost you €6-10
