Nightlife

Copenhagen usually wakes up to party around 9 or 10 in the evening when they step out to the cafés to have a couple of drinks before hitting the clubs at around one o’clock at night. People coming from private parties will hit the street as late as two o’clock at night (or not at all). Most bars close at 2 or 3 while clubs and discos stay open till 5 or 6. If you go out early, you’ll find the pubs, bars and cafés empty, and don’t dream of going to the club before 12 o’clock – in Copenhagen people start partying late and finish early (in the morning!)
Stay clear of these streets
Partying in Copenhagen is pretty safe, and the further you get from the inner city the less is the chance of stumbling into random fights, rowdy people with too much alcohol in their blood and people who are really too young to be partying. A good tip is to stay clear of Købmagergade and Gothersgade after sundown, as these two streets tend to attract the worst drunken troublemakers. That being said, Danes can really hold their liquor and are used to drinking. You’ll see the occasional drunken guy trying to make it home at six in the morning, but other than that the drinking culture is well behaved.
From stylish to student chic
The various parts of Copenhagen offer very varied experiences when it comes to partying and drinking. Vesterbro is stylishly laid-back. Nørrebro has more bodegas that you could ever manage to visit and the area around Skt. Hans Torv is packed with bars and clubs. In Amager illegal underground parties pop up randomly in abandoned warehouses; there are many opportunities to gate crash. The locals and students go to bodegas because of the authentic environment and the cheap beer, the art people hang out in the White Meat District at Kødboderne and Flæsketorvet and the well-off has found a new trend in the hotel bars. All the galleries in Valby have openings on Fridays and of course beer is free here.

Sadly, girls do not come to you. Brush your teeth, smile and start looking.

Hi Kelly,
Yes, there’s a big difference from Berlin to Copenhagen. In the fancier clubs you’ll see women in short dresses with plenty of make-up and men in shirt & tie, and even suits sometimes.
