Sunny in Copenhagen

Best weather

Copenhagen’s climate can best be described as an oceanic climate. This means that the four seasons are accompanied by irregular patterns that are constantly changing, in addition to which the overall temperature of the city is about five degrees higher than it should be based on its location and altitude. Rainfall is usually average with a bit of a peak during the period June to August. Typically, there is snowfall from late December through to early March, however, the snow melts away quickly. January and February are usually rainy and temperatures can fall to freezing point during these two months. Spring time in Copenhagen is very similar to a continental European climate but it takes and extra week for the snow to melt away, delaying the arrival of spring to Copenhagen. For the same reason winter is delayed as the surrounding waters are usually still warm in autumn. Sometimes storms occur during the period from mid October to February. But that seldom ever happens. All things considered, April to June may be the best time to visit Copenhagen.

Try not to miss

Although Copenhagen is not primarily a tourism city, there are many interesting, enjoyable, entertaining and fun things to be done. There are parks to visit and enjoy, beaches for those who like to swim, museums and amusement parks to mention just a few. There are sights to be seen and events to attend. Some annual events in Copenhagen are; Fashion week, which takes place every February and August. Then there is Copenhagen carnival and Jazz festival and there are so many others. If you like arts and entertainment, for you, this might be the best time to visit Copenhagen.

Longest queues

One need not worry about long queues to attend events and attractions as they are well organized and spaced out to avoid a crazy rush of patrons at events and attractions, however, certain months may see an increase in tourists most of whom may be from neighboring cities. There are events and other activities during the months of February, mid-April, June, July, August and November. Events attracting large crowds include Natfilm festival, Copenhagen’s Pride which is a gay pride parade   Roskilde Music festival and a cooking festival called Copenhagen cooking.

Cheapest months to visit

Because Copenhagen has an economy it can boast about, tourists are not burdened with exorbitant pieces at any time. Prices are standard and reasonable in most cases and the fact that most visitors are mostly from cities nearby prices are regulated and kept within reason. Logically, however, during the months when there are no major events tourists may encounter reduction in prices in some instances.
