Christiania

Christiania is an absolute must-see when in Copenhagen. Founded in 1971 by a bunch of hippies, Christiania is a mini society with 800 people living by their own rules. Here, hash is as common as beer, the people are happy (or really, really stoned), the graffiti colorful and the food is great and organic. Take a walk by the lakes, chill out at the legendary Månefiskeren or visit pusher street. Christiania is beautiful in the summer, and in the wintertime they have Christmas markets, warm wine and waffles – and of course, entrance is free!
Why should I go
- Because the government might shut down this historic part of the city soon.
Where
The best way to get to Christiania, or anywhere else in Copenhagen for that matter is by bike. If you prefer public transportation take the bus 5A or 305S or the Metro to Christianshavn, from there it is a 10-minute walk.
